Technical Data:
Explore the technical details of our bench seating range below. Learn more about its durable framework, sustainable material options, tiering compatibility, and ergonomic considerations—engineered for reliable, long-lasting performance across educational and auditorium settings.
- Seat only
- Fixed backrest
- Not suitable for mounting on retractable tiering systems
- Folding backrest
- Suitable for mounting on retractable tiering systems
- Floor / riser edge mounting
- Bench sits over tiering edge, requiring suitable riser height
- Stanchion mounted
- For flat floor installations to ensure proper sit height
- Sit height: 465mm
- Nominal centre of seat base top surface to floor pre compression – when mounted without stanchions, dependent upon riser height + 65mm + packer
- Sit depth: 300mm
- Max. bench length: 2400mm
- 2400mm per maximum core material sheet size – unless required without main face seams, in this case, bench length must be 2400mm or less, but is determined by specified fabric roll width minus 150mm
- Recommended min. child seat centre: 450mm
- “Seat centre” refers to a measurement taken between the centres of two adjacent users – note importance of considering ergonomic allowance for user comfort
- Recommended min. adult seat centre: 550mm
- Recommended adult seat centre: 600mm
- Typical 2000mm seat with backrest installation weight: 35kg
- Backrest rake angle: 75°
- Min. tier riser height: 250mm
- This gives a minimum sit height of 315mm
- Recommended tier riser height: 385mm
- This gives a sit height of 450mm
- Max. tier riser height: 425mm
- This gives a minimum sit height of 490mm
- Min. tier depth: 600mm
- Dependent on seats per row to regulations: 600mm to minimum seat quantity of 7 seats
- Rear of base plate to riser: 50mm standard
- may increase depending on riser height
- Minimum recommended spacing of base plate next to surface (wall / step etc): 50mm
- 70mm seat depth cushion with 50mm of shaped comfort upholstery grade foam.
- 80mm seat depth cushion with 45mm of shaped comfort upholstery grade foam
- 5x100x330mm powder coated steel plate with countersunk fixings into timber (minimum 24mm) or concrete
- Base cushion is upholstered onto underside, where fabric is stapled – black backing cloth applied to finish the underside
- Backrest is fully upholstered, stapled into underside rear edge, where staples are rarely witnessed
- Tested to meet the requirements of: BS EN12727:2016 test level 4
- Stanchion leg base plates are fitted after flooring is completed (atop carpet / vinyl etc) and offer multiple M6 fixings to exceed the minimum required structural capacity – under test conditions, half of the allowed fixings are sufficient to provide more than minimum fixing strength – additional fixings are provided to allow for shorter fixings with slightly reduced structural capacity, to avoid unforeseeable substrate conditions, ensuring a robust and adaptable installation.
- Tested & Certified to meet the requirements of:
- BS 5852:2006 Assessment of the ignitability of upholstered seating by smouldering & flaming ignition sources, Section 4: Methods of test for the ignitability of upholstered composites ignition source 0, 1 & 5, Crib 5.

Options & Accessories:
Enhance your bench seating with sustainable foam upgrades, custom tiering for concrete or timber floors, and level adjustments for angled surfaces. Choose from a wide range of upholstery, laminate, and flooring finishes. Please note: this configuration does not support integrated power or data.
Seat base and backrest foam can be replaced with a recycled (and recyclable) sheet fibre product, sourced from recycled PET and clothing – inherently FR and nearly endlessly recyclable in a closed loop factory, this upgrade significantly improves product sustainability, both in manufacture and at end of life, as the material is commonly isolated for recycling by civic waste disposal and recycling centres.
Seats support both concrete tiering, and fixed timber or steel tiering – SIS offer in-house design of timber / steel tiering systems, with optional structural engineer approval when required.
The Bench does not support the provision of power or data connections within the seat
Where a floor is not level, stanchion legs can be packed to ensure a level installation for proper ergonomic posture within the seat – designs are reviewed to ensure sit height is not compromised.

Structures:
Discover the engineered foundations behind SIS Global Seating’s high-performance bench systems. Unlike suppliers who only provide seating, we offer a complete solution—designing, manufacturing, and installing both fixed and retractable tiered structures tailored to your exact space and specification.
Our fixed tiering systems are ideal for permanent lecture theatres and auditoriums, designed with precision to optimise capacity, sightlines, and ergonomics. Custom riser and tread dimensions, along with straight or curved layouts, ensure a perfect fit in every environment.
Our retractable tiering systems offer flexible seating configurations for multi-use spaces, enabling fast transitions between open floor areas and full-capacity seating. Modular construction and optional power operation allow for quick, efficient setup.
