Thomas Keble
Stroud, UK
Capacity: 700 students
Thomas Keble School is a mixed comprehensive school situated on the edge of the Cotswolds AONB in the village of Eastcombe, 5 miles from Stroud.
In order to meet the schools existing needs and vision for the future, it was proposed to build a new 3 storey teaching block to provide additional learning space and updated facilities for its 700 students.
Its design included a main hall to provide a large communal space for a range of usage including assemblies and exams and to facilitate this, it was required to be fitted with a retractable seating system.

After a competitive tendering process, SIS Global seating were selected to design, manufacture and install this system. Working closely with architects Noviun and main contractors Kier Construction, SIS completed on time overcoming issues such as adverse weather, a site prone to flooding whilst being considerate of nearby residents and working within an operational school environment.
The new system, with bench seating upholstered in durable Camira Target fabric with Heckmondwike Iron Duke carpet fitted to the decking, has a capacity to sit 212 students and will be expected to provide many years of regular usage when the building opens for students in the Autumn.
