Collaborative Fixed Benches

SIS Global Seating’s adaptable floor-fixed upholstered collaborative benches for learning environments encouraging group working activities. These group benches offer a range of standard features plus a number of styles and design options.

Robustly constructed, this innovative bench-style seating solution can be produced in various lengths with angled extensions to accommodate different group numbers.

Options available with the Collaborative Benches include exposed and polished plywood panels for the seatbacks to enhance the appearance and for protection purposes and an excellent choice of seat fabrics.

Floor–fixed tables available in a variety of sizes, shapes and finishes and can accept power and data points. Modesty panels for tables also provided.

Rigid, durable and supportive steel frame supports the entire length of each bench and table, finished in various BS or RAL colours.

Technical Features

Framework

  • Seat Support Metalwork – Prefabricated steel frame units formed from 50 x 25 x 3.0mm RHS and 30 x 30 x 3.0mm RHS sections complete with 380 x 100 x 5mm thick floor plate.
  • All metal work to have all weld spatter removed prior to being thoroughly de-greased and de-scaled before being powder coated, colour available from the British Standard or RAL colour range.

Upholstery and Shelves

  • Seat base – 550mm deep front to back. 25mm thick birch plywood with all corners rounded and all sharp edges removed.
  • Seat foam to be 75mm thick overall, consisting of 50mm thick, 6lb recon foam core topped with 25mm thick, 25/30kg/m3 CMHR foam. Top foam to be complete with skirt which is long enough to be wrapped over all edges of seat plywood base to give protection to the seat base covering fabric. Seat base covered with selected fabric.
  • Seat back – 400mm deep. 18mm thick birch plywood with all corners rounded and all sharp edges removed.
  • Back foam to be 25mm thick at the top of the seat back and increasing to 80mm thick at the bottom of the seat back. Seat back consisting of 25kg/m3 CMHR foam and covered with selected fabric. Outside of seat back finished with a 15mm thick exposed polished plywood panel, 595mm deep. Seat back units to be provided with M8 Tee nuts to secure the upholstery to the seat frames.
  • All upholstery complies with BS 5852, 1990, ignition source 0,1 & 5 (Crib 5) in respect to flame retardancy.
  • Writing ledges – Writing ledges to be constructed from 25mm thick plywood core with exposed edges, finished with a clear polyurethane lacquer. One face of writing ledge to be laminated with Formica Fundamentals Laminate. Writing ledges width to be 445mm and to the shape shown on design drawings.
  • Modesty panels to be constructed from 25mm thick plywood core with exposed edges, finished with a clear polyurethane lacquer. Both faces of the modesty panels to be laminated with Formica Fundamentals Laminate. Modesty panel depth to be 460mm and to the shape shown on design drawings.
  • Writing ledge / modesty panel support metalwork – prefabricated steel frame units formed from 80 x 50 x 3.0mm RHS section complete with 290 x 100 x 5mm thick floor plate and 400mm x 100mm x 10mm writing ledge support plate.
