Technical Data:
- Backrest with tipping seat
- Backrest only (no tipping seat)
- We recommend that, for wheelchair positions, tipping seats remain, allowing the position to be used even when a wheelchair user is not present.
- Without writing ledge
- Typically a rear row seat with no seats behind.
- With writing ledge
- Care must be taken to ensure sufficient walkway per building regulations
- Front row writing ledge with modesty panel
- A desk-only product that sits in front of the foremost row of seating, typically fitted with laminated modesty panels to the front vertical face to offer concealment from view for users seated behind the desk.
- Sit height: 450mm
- Sit depth: 400mm
- Min. seat centre: 450mm
- “Seat Centre” refers to a measurement taken between the centres of two adjacent legs, standard increments to seat centre are 25mm, ie; 450mm / 475mm / 500mm etc.
- Recommended min. adult seat centre: 500mm
- Recommended adult seat centre: 550mm
- Max. seat centre: 650mm
- Min. writing ledge depth: 290mm
- Writing ledge thickness: 18 or 25mm (25mm if including sockets in ledge thickness)
- Max. writing ledge overhang from last support: 150mm
- Max. riser height: 500mm
- Writing ledge surface height: 715 – 725mm (depending on ledge thickness and laminate)
- Avg. single seat installation weight: 15kg
- Stanchion rake angle:
- 80 degrees for seat rows
- 90 degrees for desk only rows
- 85 degree option for narrow tiers
- Min tier depth:
- Dependent on seats per row to regulations: 1065mm to minimum seat quantity of 7 seats
- Rear of base plate to riser: 50mm standard
- may increase depending on riser height
- Minimum recommended spacing of base plate next to surface (wall / step etc): 50mm
- Writing ledge ends are recommended to avoid alignment with subsequent rows on a curved installation. Though this is possible, it offers little allowance for variance in a concrete tiering structure, which can lead to visible deviation
- Tightest radius without shaping seat bases: 5250mm. For a tighter radius, seat bases will need to be narrowed along the front edge – it should be noted that this narrows the effective seat width at this point, as such, care must be taken to specify appropriately sized seat centres for user comfort.
- Tightest possible radius: 1650mm
- Recommended largest radius: 40,000mm. Should a radius exceed 40,000mm, the curvature of the desks typically becomes imperceptible.
- 400mm sit depth cushion with 75mm of comfort upholstery grade foam including a “wrap” foam to encapsulate structural board edges for comfort and appearance.
- Backrests adjust in height to suit the riser height to ensure a seamless installation between backrest and writing ledge, using 50mm of comfort upholstery grade foam including a “wrap” foam to encapsulate structural board edges for comfort and appearance.
- 8x100x250mm powder coated steel plate with countersunk fixings into timber (minimum 24mm) or concrete
- 18mm MDF Core laminated top face with Formica Fundamentals Pewter Grey 6632 as standard, with a white balancer laminate to the underside and edge banded ABS all around to match the top face.
- Other laminates available, including to underside.
- When specifying writing ledges with in-surface power, writing ledges are increased to 25mm Core MDF.
- Standard overhang at end of row from a leg top plate is 25mm, with a maximum of 150mm.
- Gravity assisted tip-up mechanism ensures that seat automatically “closes” when not in use to increase walkway, or for ADA Desks, when a wheelchair user is present.
- Nylon bushes ensure a smooth, lubricant free operation, with a hard wearing Stopper to reduce noise. Minimum operation of 100,000 cycles.
- Tested to meet the requirements of: BS EN12727:2016 test level 4.
- Stanchion leg base plates are fitted after flooring is completed (atop carpet / vinyl etc) and offer multiple M6 fixings to exceed the minimum required structural capacity – under test conditions, half of the allowed fixings are sufficient to provide more than minimum fixing strength – additional fixings are provided to allow for shorter fixings with slightly reduced structural capacity, to avoid unforeseeable substrate conditions, ensuring a robust and adaptable installation.
- Tested & Certified to meet the requirements of:
- BS 5852:2006 Assessment of the ignitability of upholstered seating by smouldering & flaming ignition sources, Section 4: Methods of test for the ignitability of upholstered composites ignition source 0, 1 & 5, Crib 5.

Options & Accessories:
Customise the LT6 chair with a selection of high-performance options and accessories. From robust construction and refined upholstery to integrated power and folding writing tablets, every element is engineered for durability, comfort, and usability.
Seat base and backrest foam can be replaced with a recycled (and recyclable) sheet fibre product, sourced from recycled PET and clothing – inherently FR and nearly endlessly recyclable in a closed loop factory, this upgrade significantly improves product sustainability, both in manufacture and at end of life, as the material is commonly isolated for recycling by civic waste disposal and recycling centres.
Seats and backs are available:
“Sleeved” – a single cover with bordered sides, stapled into the out of the way rear edge of the structural core.
“Upholstered Panelled” – a separate board is upholstered and affixes to the underside of the base cushion / rear of the backrest for an improved finish quality.
“Painted / Finished Panelled” – a separate board is either
painted, laminated or timber finished and affixed to the underside of the base cushion / rear of the backrest for a contrast to the upholstered element.
The backrest can be upgraded with an optional lumbar support foam profile to enhance comfort (when riser is 150mm or more).
Seats support both concrete tiering, and fixed timber or steel tiering – SIS offer in-house design of timber / steel tiering systems, with optional structural engineer approval when required.
Writing ledges support surface mounted sockets, which can be supplied and installed by SIS, using a Plug & Play product which only requires the client to arrange for an electrical subcontractor to make the final connections from the supply lead to mains. Sockets offer various options, single, dual and triple socket, with a mix of Standard UK Plug and USB options
Optional row letters can be attached to the tiering / steps at end or row, while numbers can be affixed to the underside of the base cushion.
Laminated 15mm core MDF panels to match the writing ledges can be used on any vertical desk only stanchion, to cleanly finish the front of a desk.
Where a floor is not level, stanchion legs can be packed to ensure a level installation for proper ergonomic posture within the seat – designs are reviewed to ensure sit height is not compromised.
Seats, writing ledges and tiering can be designed to a tighter radius to offer a U-Shaped, or entirely enclosed, Harvard lecture theatre setting.
By replacing a fixed desk foot with a larger “Ski”, desks can be made free standing, allowing for flexible seating arrangements that allow a wheelchair user to retain the use of a writing ledge.
